Sedona is surrounded by 1.8 million acres of national forest, wilderness areas and state parks. It’s the perfect area for biking, fishing, horseback riding, running and more! There is no shortage of outdoor activities.
One of the best things to do in Sedona is hike the many trails surrounding the town. Many of these trails are great for every type of hiker, from beginner to expert, and give you some of the most beautiful views of the red rock formations. Sedona is famous for being a sacred and powerful place because of its many vortexes. Sedona vortexes are thought to be swirling centers of energy that are conducive to healing, meditation and self-exploration. These are places where the earth seems especially alive with energy. Many people feel inspired, recharged or uplifted after visiting a vortex. The most popular spots where it is said the energy is highest is along Airport Mesa, Cathedral Rock, Bell Rock and Boynton Canyon. When hiking up to these spots don’t be suprised to find people meditating or doing yoga- join in if it appeals to you! Just show up with an open mind and see what happens.

When you think of Arizona, wine doesn’t really come to mind. But Sedona and the surrounding area sits in a micro-climate perfect for growing and making great wine. These wineries are small, but passionate, and the results speak for themselves. Stop by Winery 1912 or the Flying Leap in Sedona, then head down to Olde Town Cottonwood or Jerome for even more.
